Dear fellow survivors,
We have another important question for you to cast your opinion about. This time it’s about the vehicle repair system.
Our new proposed system:
As opposed to finding whole big parts such as the engine, fuel tank and so forth… putting them in your backpack and then installing them as it is currently in Origins Mod, in our new system there would be a number of random things that can be broken and need to be replaced. For example, the engine may need different spark plugs or a timing belt; the fuel tank may need a fuel filter etc… You find those, install them and you’re ready to go.
Sounds good, or do you like the old system more? Or do you have you own idea (leave a reply)?

Re: [OFFICIAL DEV] Vehicle Repair System!
I would agree with the new systems if:
- Vehicle parts as a whole won't have a "condition value" attached to them like the mod, if you find all parts for a particular vehicle component, like an engine for a car, it should be 100% condition all the time. You could possibly replace a particular component(s) if it takes damage from gunfire.
- Parts for vehicle components for basic vehicles such as cars, motorcycles etc should be quite easy to find and not require trips to various towns to get all the parts. However I do think parts for vehicle components for more advanced vehicles such as aerial vehicles, big trucks etc should be less common and in itself be like a "mini project" to complete
Re: [OFFICIAL DEV] Vehicle Repair System!
if the new system is grindy it wouldn't be good. i prefer the old one
Maybe the old system was not realistic but i don't need a realistic pandemik.

Re: [OFFICIAL DEV] Vehicle Repair System!
I agree with Lukas, the grind of finding engine parts and fuel tank parts made cars much more valuable and the process of fixing one up much more rewarding. Because engine parts took up so much space it was a trade off between your current gear and the importance of a crucial car part. Maybe if you mixed both ideas together where in order to get a car operational but at minimum quality you would need the bigger basic parts. But to make that car run the best you would need those smaller parts like better spark plus too.
In my opinion it would be a mistake to make cars and car parts too easy to fix up or find. Scarcity created value and importance. Because a car was so rare you treated it as so, sometimes creating a dedicated garage for the car or even possibly changing your route to avoid high population areas because of risking someone shooting out a tire. Those aspects are what made the mod so much fun for me aswell as others.
Just because things are rare or hard to complete doesn't mean they're bad or grindy, to me it increases their importance and is so much more rewarding when completed. I felt the same when completing a house in the origins mod, the fact that you had to take multiple trips to mine rocks or find cement wasn't a grind to me but more of a mission. It would not be much fun at all if it was too easy to make such a important structure like a house or garage.

Both options sound good, whatever gets us playing faster is good with me
