Clothing / Levelling system

Post by GeneralMelchett »

Hi,

I'm curious what the plans are on the subject "Clothing / Leveling". I will explain why i think it is important:

1) During the upgrade from 1.7.9.5 to 1.8, most people on TT complained about the new 'clothing' system. People said they looked like n00bs, regardless of them being a level 3 or 4 bandit/hero. Personally i don't give a shit, but I do understand -especially- with younger players that they like to showoff, brag and want to be recognized as veteran players in the community. The old 1.7.9.5 clothing system was the only real thing that visually separated the pros from the n00bs. I think this should not be underestimated. Imagine CS:GO without any system where you could identify someone's level.

2) It also helped PVE players on a PVP server identify an unknown player quickly: a level 2+ hero won't shoot on sight another hero and vice versa.

I liked the system where if you got higher level bandit/hero you got cooler looking skins :p But the separate clothing system where you had slots to customize your outfit had also some good features, I hope there will be some kind of mix.

I also like the idea of being able to customize your outfit with different pieces. It would be cool to see the leveling system unlock shaders that you would apply to clothing. For example, hero's unlock heroic colors (ie: Level1: blue, Level2: white, Level3: gold) and bandits unlock bandit colors (ie: Level1: red, Level2: black, Level3: carbon-fiber). This would allow for better customization without losing the ability to recognize someone's alignment. This is all just fantasizing, though.
